  • Phone number (for account verification and SMS communications)

  • Information about your parent or loved one seeking senior living care, including:

    • Name

    • Health conditions and care needs

    • Mobility and cognitive status

    • Budget preferences

    • Location preferences

  • Tour scheduling preferences and requests

  • Feedback and reviews about facility tours

  • Communications with facilities through our platform

B. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device information (model, OS version)

  • Log data (timestamps, IP addresses)

  • App usage and interaction data

  • Location data (with your permission, to find nearby facilities)

C. Third-Party Services We Use

  • Supabase — database, storage, authentication

  • Twilio — SMS messaging for tour coordination and notifications

  • OpenAI — AI-assisted care matching and decision support

  • Hosting providers

  • Apple/Google frameworks

We do not share personal data for advertising purposes.

2. SMS COMMUNICATIONS

What We Send

By providing your phone number and agreeing to our Terms of Service, you consent to receive SMS messages from Compass Places, including:

  • Tour scheduling confirmations and reminders

  • Facility responses to your tour requests

  • Post-tour feedback requests

  • Move-in check-ins and follow-ups

  • Important updates about your saved facilities

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your activity. Tour scheduling may involve multiple messages during coordination. You will receive periodic check-ins after tours and after move-in.

Opting Out

You can opt out of SMS communications at any time by:

Message and data rates may apply. Check with your carrier for details.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account

  • Assess your parent's care needs and match them with appropriate facilities

  • Generate personalized facility recommendations

  • Coordinate tour scheduling between you and facilities via SMS

  • Send tour confirmations, reminders, and follow-up requests

  • Collect feedback to improve our recommendations

  • Track referrals for billing purposes (facilities pay us referral fees)

  • Improve app functionality and user experience

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide support

4. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We share information only in these situations:

  • With senior living facilities — to coordinate tours and communicate your preferences (only the information necessary to schedule and conduct tours)

  • With service providers — who help operate the App (Supabase, Twilio, OpenAI)

  • When legally required — subpoenas, court orders, fraud prevention

  • With your consent — when you explicitly authorize sharing

We never sell personal information.

5. REFERRAL FEES AND TRANSPARENCY

Compass Places is free for families. We earn referral fees from facilities when a user moves their parent into a facility found through our App. This referral fee:

  • Never affects our rankings or recommendations

  • Is disclosed to you when you select a facility

  • Helps keep Compass Places free for families

6. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your data

  • Request deletion of your data

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Opt out of SMS communications

  • Delete your account and all associated data

7. ACCOUNT & DATA DELETION

You may delete your account at any time through the App settings or by contacting support. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile and assessment data will be removed

  • Your tour history and reviews will be anonymized or deleted

  • Some data may be retained for legal or billing purposes

8. DATA RETENTION

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we may retain anonymized data for analytics and certain records for legal compliance.

9. SECURITY

We use modern security practices including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest

  • Secured database access

  • Industry-standard authentication methods

  • Regular security reviews

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Policy and will notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
